Essay Writing Contest Description

EditFast will hold 12 essay writing contests every year. The monthly essay writing contest is free to all and open to any topic apart from the exclusions listed below. The top two winners each month will be published in a yearly hardback volume "24 Essays On Life." At the discretion of the judges, all well written essays may be published on the Web site. In order to publish the essays, EditFast must reserve First Rights on all submissions.

What's an Essay?

There are many definitions of "essay," but for our purposes here it refers to a short, literary, prose composition on a single, focused subject of discussion expressing a personal view. The term was coined by Michel de Montaigne to describe his 1580 collection of brief, informal reflections on himself and on various topics relating to human nature.

How To Submit Your Essay

The proofreader will be proofreading the manuscript with an editorial eye. If any passages are still particularly difficult to understand or are awkward in style or syntax, some minor, light editing will be done and major changes needed will be noted.
